Canons High School - GCSE Food Students Visit
On Thursday 2 March, GCSE Food Technology students from Canons High School utilise one of our professional kitchens to complete their controlled assessment.
For their assessment, students had two hours to prepare, cook, wash up and present their dish. They then had to complete a sensory taste test and take photos of their products to display in their portfolio.
Their class teacher was not only looking for innovative and creative dishes but also assessing how well they work under pressure.
Visiting West Herts College is a great experience for students, Paris Morris told us “Coming to West Herts College is so much fun – the kitchen space is great and so much bigger than what we have at school. We also get to learn new tips from the chefs”.
Students cooked a range of dishes, including…
- Mexican Lamb Tortilla
- Jollof Rice with Pan Fried Mackerel and Plantain
- Key Lime Avocado Tart
- Rissol De Atum Prawn and Tuna Patties with Sauce
- Polvoron – Petite Fours
- Moussaka
- Chicken Balls with Mashed Potato and Tomato Sauce
- Banana Cream Pie with Sweet Pastry
- Portuguese Almond Tart
- Beef Meat Pie with Shortcrust Pastry
Take a look at some of them in action...
And some of their masterpieces...
Well done to all students!
