Building Services students work with Osborne
Over the last academic year our Building Services students, Isla Barnard and Owen Hedger, have been fortunate enough to be placed with Osborne on a GAP experience supporting their Repairs Team.
Both students, having gone through application and interviews for the roles, spent time with Operatives, Site Managers and Supervisors to gain a greater understanding of what roles they could aspire to when they leave college.
Hannah Bailey, Community Investment Manager at Osborne, said: “We were so impressed with their pro-active attitude to learning and how they were able to apply what they had learnt at college in a work environment.
“The partnership with West Herts College has been incredibly beneficial. With our industry facing a huge skills shortage, it is essential that we work with schools and colleges to best prepare and engage with our future workforce.”
The college recently hosted a Building Services awards night where Isla won ‘Best Student’ and Owen won ‘Osborne Award for Outstanding Participation in GAP Adventures’.
