Bricklaying Student Success

Bricklaying student Isla Barnard’s outstanding progress was celebrated last week, with local supplier Jewson Builders Merchants, Berkhamstead, presenting her with industry equipment.

Isla has shown fantastic ability and dedication on her course, achieving eight consecutive distinction grades for her practical work, becoming the first Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork student to achieve this. Because of this success, Michael Williams, branch manager from local supplier Jewson kindly presented Isla with a trowel and spirit level. Michael, a former student of the College, said: “It’s fantastic to see Isla’s dedication to her course - if she continues in this manner she will have a great career ahead of her.”

Regarding her success, course tutor Lloyd Grant said: “Isla is very diligent, hardworking and possesses natural bricklaying ability. With the construction industry enjoying a mini-boom, and current shortage in the number of bricklayers, Isla is sure to have a very successful career in the industry.”
