Big draw - Animal Farm sculpture

Our Fine Arts students played their part in Watford's Big Draw, unveiling an Animal Farm themed sculpture

This year marks the 100th birthday of Joy Batchelor, pioneering animator of Animal Farm.

Joy went to art school in Watford and ended up pursuing a career in animation. One of her best known works was the animated film of Animal Farm which is regarded as Britain’s first feature length animation. The film was adapted from George Orwell’s classic novel, and follows the story of the overworked animals of Manor Farm.

To celebrate and pay homage to the animator’s life, our second year Fine Art students have created an Animal Farm themed sculpture.

The sculpture is positioned in The Pond in the centre of Watford and will be updated with other work over the coming weeks.
