Aviation Students Complete Water Survival Training
Level 2 and 3 Aviation students from West Herts College completed their Water Survival Practical Training with Monarch Airlines, which are based at Luton Airport.
The students were required to don life jackets and complete several exercises as part of their 'Airline Emergency Procedures' assessment, focusing on the evacuation of an aircraft in water.
The first exercise called Towing, required students to hold another under the chin, before guiding them across the width of the pool. The second exercise was the use of a life raft in water. Students had to enter the water and swim to the raft as quickly as possible, before working as a team to help each other enter the raft. Once safely inside, they had to ensure that the canopy completely covered the raft and was attached securely.
