Assessment and exam update
Following Government guidance around college/school closures and exam postponements, it is understandable for students to have questions about their next academic steps. The College remains committed to supporting students to progress to their desired destination.
As the Department for Education and awarding bodies work towards a solution, we will be keeping a close eye on updates – sharing these with our students and continuing to support students to achieve the best possible outcome.
Ofqual, the exam regulator, will develop and set out a process that will provide a calculated grade to each student which reflects their performance as fairly as possible, and will work with the awarding bodies and exam boards to ensure this is consistently applied for all students. The awarding bodies and exam boards will be asking tutors, who know their students well, to submit their judgement about the grade that they believe the student would have received if assessments and exams had gone ahead.
We are awaiting further detail on how this affects courses with work placements and forms of practical and technical assessment. We will share this information with students as it is made available.
For those who wish to do so, the Government have also announced that there will also be an option to sit an exam during the next academic year.
Students should still continue engaging with their English and maths sessions, developing their skills and working towards the best grade possible. Tutors are available via email or Microsoft Teams.
For students looking for advice or guidance around their next steps, our admissions team and GAP team are available remotely via email.
