Higher Education at West Herts College

Pride is at the heart of it: from our professional kit and tutors’ expertise to our work experience programmes with leading employers.

Study with us
Our Higher Education degrees and diplomas are tailored to meet the needs of our students and employers across the region. We've carefully crafted a range of work-focused programmes that equip students with both the practical and theoretical skills to prepare them for heading straight in to employment or continued learning at university.

Personal support
Higher education is all about exploring ideas, which is why we deliberately keep our class sizes small. We want you to feel free to share ideas right from the start – discussing topics in small groups and in ways which bring academic learning to life. Personal tutors provide one-to-one support, advising on assignments and reviewing progress. Your future plans will interest them as much as your coursework so you can expect help with many matters.

In our Learning Support Centre you’ll find more people with specialist knowledge of your subject. Turn to them for assistance with projects and your wider academic development. Other staff have expertise in practical matters like student finance and accommodation.

Professional resources
Our professional facilities are rated as some of the very best around, with much of our kit and equipment more than a match for universities.
This is a point of pride for everyone at West Herts College. Every subject and every course is supported in this way.

Keeping it close
At West Herts College we will always have time to talk, whether it’s a catch-up with your personal tutor or making the most of our other services.
Our HE Centre is reserved for your exclusive use. It’s your place for working on projects or relaxing with friends. And when it comes to focusing your thoughts before an assignment, our coffee shop is just a few steps away. Watford town centre is on our doorstep and central London is only 20 minutes by train – we’re a short walk from Watford Junction or, for north London, you could jump on the Tube. Our links with employers are growing all the time, creating many opportunities
