T Levels are a new qualification that follows GCSEs and are equivalent to studying 3 A Levels, they give you a head start towards the career you want. These 2-year courses bring classroom learning, practical skills and an extended industry placement together on a course designed in partnership with employers and businesses.
You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement, designed to develop your practical skills in specialist facilities and getting you ready for work. Alternatively, you can use your T Level to move onto an apprenticeship or a degree.

T Levels suit students who wish to start working towards a skilled occupation and prefer a practical approach. T Levels are ideal for gaining knowledge and experience needed to get a skilled job. Having industry experience can help you stand out to employers and can give you an edge on other candidates. More than 200 businesses have been involved so you can be confident your T Level will move you to the next level.
A T Level attracts UCAS tariff points so students can use the qualification in applying for higher education. A T Level is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.
How long does a T Level take?
2 years of study
How long is the placement within your T Level?
The placement lasts around 45 days (minimum 315 hours), the placement can be taken as a block of days or individual days. This often differs on the T Level course you undertake.
What are my career options after completing my T Level?
T Levels help you get work ready, meaning you can move onto an apprenticeship or an entry level job after your T Level. Alternatively, T Levels give you UCAS points so you can progress to University upon completion of your T Level.

Are all T Levels equivalent of 3 A Levels?
Yes, a T Level gives you UCAS points, like A Levels. Gaining a Distinction* in your T Level is the equivalent of three A* grades at A Level.
When do the placements start?
Placements will begin in the first year of your T Level course, depending on securing your placement. Our GAP team will help you to find a placement relevant to your course, but we encourage you to start looking into this before you start your course.
