Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs (A*–D/9-3), or successful completion of Level 1 programme.
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.

What will I study?
Develop your knowledge of the travel industry through key subject areas, such as:

Marketing in travel and tourism - gain an understanding of the principles of marketing and the skills needed to conduct market research and to develop a marketing plan for an aviation organisation

Customer service - investigate travel and tourism customer service and explore the needs and expectations of different types of customer in the travel and tourism sector

International travel and tourism destinations - learn the major international travel and tourism destinations and gateways. Investigate the appeal of international travel and tourism destinations to different types of visitor

Airports and airlines - gain an understanding of the many different sources of commercial revenue available to both airports and airlines

UK travel destinations - understand the UK travel and tourism sector and its importance to the UK
Trips, visits and workshops bring the subject to life. Past activities have included visiting terminals 2 and 5 at Heathrow Airport and a cruise ship visit.
There will be opportunities to improve your English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop the skills employers are looking for.

What can I do next?
Successful students can progress on to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Global Travel and Marketing or Aviation Operations. Possible careers include travel agent, tour operator, hotel receptionist or airline customer services as well as careers in the hospitality, event management and wedding coordinating.
