Introduction
An ideal option for people new to plumbing who want to build a career in the sector or one of its related fields. All the basic skills are covered, providing the essential skills and experience needed to progress further.
When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be at an Improver/Plumber’s Mate level.

Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs (A*–D/9-3) including maths and English, or Level 1 Diploma.
Don't meet the grades? Take a look at the Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing for a solid understanding of key areas - you will be able to progress to the Level 3 upon successful completion.
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.

What will I study?
You’ll study a combination of practical techniques and theory based applications, including plumbing installations.
You’ll study the following mandatory units:

Health and safety in building services/engineering

Electrical principles and processes for building services/engineering

Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing

Common plumbing processes
-
Cold water systems
-
Domestic hot water systems
-
Sanitation
-
Central heating systems
-
Drainage systems
-
Understanding how to communicate with others within building services/engineering
This is a workshop and classroom based course, with assessment through practical skills tests, observations of your work, assignments, projects and online assessments with City & Guilds.
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.
