Introduction
Always loved performing and want to improve your creative skills ready for a career in this competitive world? Then this is the course for you. Bring a production to life – and be involved from backstage to front of house.
You’ll be developing your skills in drama, dance, singing and production. At your side will be our expert tutors, passing on their professional advice as you put on shows and performances.
You’ll perform in College and at local theatres, taking your work to live audiences across our local community. On campus, in Watford, we have everything you need to bring your creativity to life. Alongside our fully-equipped theatre space, there’s a green room, plus costume stores and dance studios.

Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs (A*–D/9-3) including English, or completion of Level 1 Diploma.
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting and will have the opportunity to showcase your talents to our tutors.

What will I study?
Take a journey to discover all aspects of the performing and production arts industry, developing your skills as performing artist and as a professional working in the industry by exploring the following units:

You’ll then choose between one of the following specialist optional units:

The development of drama

The development of dance

The development of music
You’ll also get the opportunity to study a range of other optional units including:

Performing scripted plays

Costume construction

Makeup for performers
-
Set construction
-
Exploring musical composition
-
Developing musical theory
-
Solo musical performance
Through the exploration of these skills you will work towards a variety of performance projects that show off your talents, to create audition material and portfolio.
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.

What can I do next?
The performing arts industry is extremely competitive, so the majority of our students continue to develop their skills and expand their portfolio of work on the Level 3 Musical Theatre, Level 3 Acting or Level 3 Production Arts at the College.
