Level 2 Diploma in Barbering
Introduction
This course will develop your practical skills in cutting men's hair along with preparing you for employment as a Barber. You will be trained in different men’s hair techniques and work on external clients in our industry standard salon to gain real life barbering experience.
This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Entry Criteria
3 GCSEs (A*-D/9-3), including English or maths, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme
You will also be invited to a Course Introduction Meeting.

What will I study?
Through projects, demonstrations and practical workshops you will learn skills in:

Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp - develop your knowledge, understanding and skill for shampooing, conditioning and treating the hair using products for a variety of hair and scalp conditions

Styling men’s hair - use a range of styling techniques to dry men’s hair to create a variety of finished looks

Cutting facial hair - develop skills to cut beards and moustaches to maintain existing shapes using scissor over comb, clippers with attachment, clipper over comb and freehand cutting techniques

Scalp massage services - learn to use appropriate massage techniques for a variety of hair and scalp conditions

Promoting products and services to clients - make suitable recommendations for services and products based on information and results of the examination of the clients hair, skin and scalp

Colouring and lightening hair - gain the knowledge and artistic skill of using hair colour to create an effect
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.
