Introduction
Can you see yourself pursuing a career as an electrician? This course provides a stepping stone, blending theory and practical skills, to set you on your way to becoming a fully qualified electrician. You will learn, develop and practice the key skills required for a range of careers in the electrotechnology industry, with a broad introduction to most of the materials and techniques used in domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations in the UK.
This course is validated by City and Guilds and delivered at our Hemel Hempstead campus.

Entry Criteria
Completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation or 3 GCSEs (A*–D/9-3) including English, maths and science may enable you to start this course at Level 2 depending on your knowledge and understanding.
You will be invited to a course introduction meeting, to meet with tutors and assess your suitability.

What will I study?
The focus is on an all-round understanding of the electrical trade, so you’ll take a mix of practical and theory lessons – gaining a range of experiences and skills to prepare you for working life.
You’ll be studying in our specialist workshops at our Hemel Hempstead campus, learning from tutors with years of professional experience.

Electrical installation theory/technology - understand the underpinning principles, industry standards and requirements of electrical installation technology

Practical installation competencies - learn, develop and practice all the competencies of practical installation
There will be opportunities to improve your English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop the skills employers are looking for - professional experience on site with an employer is also key to success.

What can I do next?
Successful students can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures). Possible careers include areas of electrical installation, including alarms, maintenance, heating and ventilation.
