Lower Intermediate Spanish
Introduction
This course is suitable for those who have completed the Pre-Intermediate Spanish course or who already have a good knowledge of basic Spanish phrases. You should already be able to conjugate verbs in the present tense, including stem-changing and irregular verbs, talk about plans for the immediate future and have some knowledge of the present perfect tense (e.g. I have done).
This course is intended for anyone interested in building their knowledge further. You will extend your vocabulary and your use of verbs in the present and present perfect tenses. You will also begin to learn how to talk about past experiences using the preterit tense. It will allow you to give opinions and to talk about your past experiences for more effective interaction with Spanish speakers.

Our part-time provision is designed primarily for adult students, aged 19 and over. Students aged 16 to 18 may be allowed to enrol on the course at the discretion of the Head of Admissions and Head of School. If you have any queries please contact our admissions team on 01923 812345. -
What will I study?
You will cover a range of useful vocabulary and consolidate the use of verbs in the present and present perfect tenses. You will be introduced to the preterit tense to talk about past events and some further grammar, such as the use of ‘Qué + adjective/noun’, will be covered.
These topics will improve your ability to hold conversations with Spanish speakers on familiar topics, give opinions, discuss past events and experiences and tell anecdotes. Cultural awareness will also be developed.
There will be some flexibility to tailor the specific topic areas to the needs of the group.
Grammar will be studied to provide for progression in the language but there will be plenty of opportunity for practising speaking skills.
No materials other than a pen and paper are necessary. It is strongly recommended that the vocabulary, phrases and grammar studied each week are reviewed between classes in order to get the most out of this course.
