Level 1 Basic Web Design
Introduction
This course introduces the basic fundamentals of web design, building your ability and confidence to create simple websites using Cascading Style Sheets and Adobe’s Dreamweaver. We’ll show you how to upload your pages to the internet.

Entry Criteria
You are required to have intermediate IT skills and good file management skills.
Our part-time provision is designed primarily for adult students, aged 19 and over. Students aged 16 to 18 may be allowed to enrol on the course at the discretion of the Head of Admissions and Head of School. If you have any queries please contact our admissions team on 01923 812345. -
What will I study?
We look at most of the commands on the menu bar and investigate how to use them in order to generate professional looking web pages. Throughout this course we will cover all the features of Dreamweaver and upon completion, you should have or be able to create a functioning website.
A home computer with access to the internet is compulsory. In addition to this, a copy of Dreamweaver and a graphics package, such as Photoshop or GIMP is encouraged as this consolidates classroom activities.
All students are able to access course material on the College’s Virtual Learning Environment.

What can I do next?
Many students who complete this course go on to Intermediate Web Design to increase their web design and development skills. Production of a portfolio of weekly activities leads to the award of a Level 1 City and Guilds Certificate.
