Professional & Community Learning is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our team as an Hourly Paid Lecturer to teach our ‘Sewing and Dressmaking’ courses.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills to run and maintain a sewing workshop along with teaching and supporting students with the creative making process. This will include the use of a range of materials, techniques and processes so an excellent knowledge of both traditional and contemporary skills and Health & Safety operating procedures is necessary for the role.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of sewing and the passion to pass this knowledge on to our students of all ages.
You will teach our Beginner students how to create a simple sewn item and you will be able to develop our student’s sewing techniques. You will teach our dressmaking and tailoring students how to make a garment from a commercial pattern, whilst advising them on correct materials and suitable fastenings.
This is a fixed term position initially starting in September 2023, next academic year. The end date will be reviewed annually in line with course enrolments and demand for the courses from our local communities.
