The School of Art and Design is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Lecturer of Ceramics to teach across our adult provision.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a broad range of skills within ceramics. 

The successful candidate will need to be available for evening class teaching on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings - 19.00 - 21.00.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging evening sessions that cover key ceramic techniques such as:

  • Hand building and wheel throwing
  • Surface decoration and glazing
  • Safe studio practice and material management

You’ll foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where students can explore and develop their individual creativity, from beginners to those looking to refine their skills.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience as a ceramicist or ceramics tutor
  • Be confident in both traditional and contemporary ceramic practices
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

Teaching experience and relevant qualifications are desirable although we are keen to hear from anyone with the right skills. A candidate who can captivate the imagination of students and demonstrate good classroom management skills would be ideal.

The closing date for applications is Monday 3rd November 2025. This is a fixed term position with an initial end date of January 2027. The successful candidate will join our team from January 2026.
