Access to Information

West Herts College is committed to openness and accountability. The College has policies and procedures relating to the information we hold and how that information can be used – all of which follow the relevant Government legislation, including Freedom of Information, Data Protection and the Environmental Information Acts.

These commitments concentrate on:

Greater openness: by making information publicly available through the College's Publication Scheme.

Personal data: by embracing the eight principles of the Data Protection Act 1998 through the College's Data Protection-Personal Information Policy - ensuring that personal data obtained and used by the College is processed and shared in compliance with the law and the College's Data Protection Registration.

Public information: by embracing the Freedom of Information Act 2000 through the College's Freedom of Information Policy - ensuring public access to information held by the College in compliance with the law.

Environmental information: by embracing the Environmental Information Legislation through the College's Environmental Regulations Policy - ensuring public access to information held by the College in compliance with the regulations.

Publication Scheme

As a public authority, we are required to adopt and maintain a publication scheme. This is a document which describes the information a public authority makes, or intends to make, available to the public.
