West Herts College has been rated as outstanding
Ofsted 2010

“Being awarded the highest grade possible is a prize we can share with everyone that studies here,” says West Herts College Principal Elizabeth Rushton.

“West Herts College is the first general further education college to gain top marks under the latest national inspection process.”

Ofsted inspectors described all key aspects of West Herts College life as outstanding – picking out particular praise for:

  • The “high-quality of education and training”
  • The levels of “care and support learners receive”
  • And the College’s commitment to “meeting the needs and interests of learners”

West Herts College has campuses in Watford, Kings Langley and Hemel Hempstead – and offers teaching at 47 community venues across West Hertfordshire.

The College also works directly with some 850 local businesses, with inspectors reporting that this training is “responding quickly to employers’ needs” and is “highly responsive to labour market needs.”

Inspectors noted that young people looking for that all-important first job are well supported: “Most learners on vocational courses develop excellent work-related skills that increase their employability prospects.”

Looking ahead, Ofsted commended the College’s commitment to “enhancing resources significantly” with its development of a new campus in Watford town centre.
