Entry Qualifications
Train to Gain NVQs are available free of charge to all employees aged
19-64 that do not already have a full Level 2 qualification. For more
information click on 'Are you eligible' on the left.
Information about the course
This NVQ is ideal for employees working as Leisure Attendants or
Lifeguards. Learners must achieve seven units in total - three mandatory
units plus a choice of four from the optional list below.
Core units
The following three core units are compulsory - covering the areas
essential for success in this work:
- Promote safety in the sport and activity environment
- Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your
organisation
- Contribute to the work of your team
Optional units
Tailor your course to your experience and skills with a choice of four
units from the following:
- Set up, take down and store equipment
- Maintain sport and recreation equipment
- Tidy and clean sport and recreation areas
- Operate plant to maintain levels of heating and ventilation
- Operate plant to maintain the quality of pool water
- Resolve customer service problems
- Provide a centre reception service
- Process payments for purchase
- Maintain the safety of swimming pool users
- Organise and improve your team's work
- Help your team members to develop their performance
