How do I get involved?

The Apprenticeship programme is government funded for young people aged 16 - 18 (Apprenticeships are available for all ages but fees are applicable). You may have an existing employee or be looking to recruit - the college may be able to put forward suitable candidates

  • The Apprentice must be employed by your company for a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • You must pay your Apprentice under the PAYE scheme
  • Your employee's contract must include their College day if appropriate - so the day studying with West Herts College is still waged

What are the costs for the employer?

  • There are no costs for employers for 16 to 18 year olds
  • For 19+ apprentices employers are asked to contribute towards fees by at least 50%
  • There are also existing wage/salary costs
