Lottery dream come true
The phrase 'It could be you' sparks disbelief in most people who feel
there's little chance of their lottery numbers ever coming up.
But the dream came true for Rachel Savin when her bid for lottery funding
was successful.
Rachel submitted a bid to the National Lottery for funding to start up
an athletics academy, as part of her Sport Studies Foundation Degree.
Rachel worked with the Three Rivers and Watford School Sport Partnership
in order to get funding to set up the academy at Rickmansworth School.
Rachel said: I was thrilled when I received a letter telling me my bid
had been successful and that the National Lottery would give us 5,000 to
set up the academy.
The academy will allow local schools to compete against each other and
enable young people who do not normally take part in sporting activities
to get involved.
